See what Mrs. SPELLMEYER is requestingMy students need fresh, new sketch books to document their creative ideas.

My students are high energy learners who require materials they can use in the art room that belong to just them. Sketchbooks fulfill just that need along with our building goals of incorporating writing into the art curriculum.
My kids are silly, happy kids who do not have a lot of resources at home.
They come from low income homes that cannot always afford simple items such as extra pencils or sketchbooks for them to write or draw in. Often materials at home and in the art room are shared with other kids. To have a sketchbook that is their own would be a happy find for my students and allow for the creative outlet they so desire.
My students will LOVE sketching like a real artist in these 70 lb weighted sheet sketch books. The heavy paper will make it easier for us to use pencil, dip ink, watercolor, markers and colored pencils. When students walk into my room, they will get their sketchbooks from off their shelf and begin a sketch assignment. That will help meet our schools requirement of a Do Now activity that is productive and meaningful. When students first walk into my room, they are required to have something to do off the bat. These sketchbooks will allow for that requirement. They will also be responding to art related writing prompts in their sketchbooks too. Incorporating writing is also a push in my school that needs to be fulfilled.
These sketchbooks will make a world of difference in how I teach my art classes.
First off, I no longer will have to make 280 sketchbooks for my students by hand and use up all the copy paper earmarked for classroom teachers. It will save me time and resources. My students will have a sketchbook that is JUST THEIRS, they do not have to share with other kids what they draw or write. At the end of the year they can take these books home and keep the writing and sketch assignments.
