My Students

My school is a small school with only one to two classes per grade level. Our middle school is like a diverse family. Students come from all walks of life and various parts of the city. This year, I have the pleasure of teaching 6th and 7th grade students in general education and special education. This means I must plan for a wide range of needs and interests.

When I asked the kids to collaborate on a list of desired texts for our classroom library, I got 154 responses in just a few minutes!

This list was only cut short due to our classroom timer going off. We are hoping to secure several repeated requests for popular series books.

My Project

There's no greater disappointment than finding a book you love, discovering it is part of a series, and realizing you don't have access to the next book. Box sets allow for us to have almost every title in a series.

I've seen many students sustain independent reading across 5, 10, or 15+ books when they find a series they love!

Using these books, students are able to look for patterns, study a particular genre, or become passionate about a character. This allows me to recommend further reading once students are finished. The requested sets below cover a range of formats including graphic novels and traditional prose. They are sure to appeal to many students across middle school. Your support in growing readers and writers is greatly appreciated.
