This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My 6th graders are richly diverse and are faced with several adversities both in and out of the classroom. Being from a Title I school with more than 85% of students receiving free lunch with a majority of them are ESL, many of them cannot afford to provide basic school supplies. To help with the many challenges they face, I strive to provide my students with a safe, stable, and exciting environment.

My students are eager and excited to learn yet they often do not have the physical tools to succeed in the classroom.

Most of them feel that because they come from lower socioeconomic backgrounds that they are unable to succeed. As a math teacher, it is my goal to retrain this thought process and encourage my students to be the best they can be in my classroom.

My students are enthusiastic, hard-working, and are ready to learn. They just need your help getting them the supplies they need for an education they deserve!

My Project

Small group instruction provides the opportunity to evaluate students’ learning strengths, locate gaps in the development of their math skills, and tailor lessons focused on specific learning objectives. These supplies are some of the basic tools my students need to for this instruction time and will help to foster a stronger learning environment.

The cheap stools I have are falling apart and need to be replaced almost every few months.

I need something more sturdy that can withstand a middle school classroom and provide a consistent learning environment. The rest of the supplies will help to provide a more interactive learning environment and create a more engaging lesson.
