Our classroom is special because we have a large group of diverse children. These children come from low income families. Most of these families do not get the opportunity to explore outside of their environment. As the teacher of these children, I provide opportunities for them to explore different senses.
Our classroom provides a secure environment for children to use their imaginations and creativity.
These products will help enhance the environment, and will give my children the opportunity to explore their imaginations in many areas.
My Project
The products that I chose for the classroom will encourage my students to expand their interests and use their imaginations. The skirts, shoes, and cleaning set will enhance our dramatic play area and help the students form a basic understanding of people and how they live. Pretending to dress-up and look at themselves in the mirror gives them self-awareness. The fruits and vegetables will allow students to match colors and improve their cognitive abilities. Children start to learn different shapes at this age and will use the cupcakes to begin shape recognition. Puppets give children the opportunity to make animals come alive and become more aware of the world that surrounds them. Lego's help construct their fine motor skills so they can start to develop their writing abilities. I picked the doll house furniture, people, and animals because this area of the classroom does not have many accessories and doll houses give children the opportunity to practice what they have learned through their own environment. And finally, I picked the Root Vue Farm Set for the children to experience the way vegetables grow from seed to final product. These products will help enhance the environment, not only in one area, but throughout the classroom.
