Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

I teach German I, II, and III as well as Russian I, II, and III, in a high poverty public school district. My students are sixth, seventh, and eighth graders. All together I have 60 students taking these languages. Also, this projector will benefit the French, Spanish, Arabic, and Chinese teachers in my building. They also teach levels I, II, and III in each of their respective languages. This means our entire building, approximately 300 students, will be using the same projector for their foreign language class.

Imagine getting a car for a present but not receiving the keys to it. Right now, I have a wonderful interactive Mimio Board, which is a virtual smartboard that allows presentations and interactive involvement between the computer and students. However, I do not have an LCD Projector so I can not use the Mimio Board. In other words, have a brand new Lexus car and no key. To top this off, my school has only one LCD projector which is only used for professional development by the administration.

The key to my car is an LCD projector! This projector will bring my students into the technology era in the classroom. It will open a door for them to be able to not only hear about the different cultures of the world but see them when we are teaching. There are also many interactive sites for world language learners that they can not currently utilize, but this LCD projector will enable a completely different level of teaching and learning world language for our entire school!

You have the power to bring my students into the modern world of technology. You are able to create in interactive classroom for every student in my building that has never experienced one before. They will be enthralled with capabilities now available to them and excited by the vast spectrum of what they can do with the LCD projector and the Mimio Board! We are all, German, Russian, Chinese, French, Spanish, and Arabic teachers, grateful for your donations and support in our adventure.
