I recently just started my first library media specialist job, and I am the librarian now!! I am so excited to start this adventure! I will get to see over 700 students throughout the week. When I get to see these kids with their smiling faces, I want to make the library the most fun place it can be! These kids come in looking for books and so much more. They want to have fun and talk with each other while working on their social skills through problem solving. Can you help? I have students K-8 that come to my library. These students are eager learners and are excited to try new things. Please help me give them the tools that they need to be successful :).
My Project
Please help my students focus better and improve their behavior with some movement with balance seat balls. They can wiggle, move and improve their concentration with a little help from you.
"In 2003, a study was published in the American Journal of Occupational Therapy concluding that in students with ADHD, sitting on therapy balls improved behavior and legible word productivity.
In other words, students using ball chairs were able to sit still, focus, and write more words clearly. Also, Mayo Clinic in Rochester seconded those findings in 2007 with a study on the benefits of a chairless classroom. In the Mayo study, which focused on improving learning and reducing obesity by making children more active, researchers found that the ability to move around more while sitting made the students more attentive. Mayo Clinic communications consultant Bob Nellis told the Minneapolis-St. Paul Star Tribune that he believes this is because kids are able to burn off excess energy by bouncing on a ball." Please help my students! Over 700 students will benefit from these chairs! Thank you for considering us: )!
