Sitting Still Gets Boring!

My students need an outlet in the classroom to get rid of their extra energy sometimes and these chairs will help them focus and continue to learn.

My Students

My school is a Title 1 school and we serve a variety of students. Often times these students are used to moving a lot and don't always have the safe and comfortable place to go to. They are loving children that want to learn and creating a safe loving classroom is my goal for them.

Often times these students display excess energy in class and have a hard time sitting still and focusing for long periods of time during lessons.

Students have a tendency to get into trouble when they can't sit still for long and often they just can't help it. They want to learn but the stamina is not built yet and they need chances to move around.

Regular classroom chairs do not allow for movement and students will try tipping back to rock themselves and have fallen backwards in many cases despite being told to 'sit up' or 'put all the legs down on that chair.'

The potential in these students can often be overlooked and instead students are labeled hyper and unruly when really they just need a moment to move about.

My Project

By purchasing these special wobble chairs for the classroom I will be able to help students continue to focus on their work while allowing them to release some of their energy! Stilling still for long periods of time can be hard for anyone and especially children. These chairs will let kids focus and potentially keep them from getting in trouble. We all need to move around once in a while and should get in trouble for a natural response!

Giving a child a few minutes to sit in these special chairs will help them satisfy that urge to move while allowing them to still participate in lessons along with the other students.

The chairs will also let the students continue on in a regular classroom environment and not be singled out for behavior and can decrease the likelihood of disrupting others who are also trying to learn.
