This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Equipping a Transitional Kindergarten (TK) classroom with the right furniture goes beyond aesthetics; it directly impacts a child's development and learning experience. Two crucial elements that often go overlooked are stepping stools and modular seating.

Firstly, stepping stools empower TK students to gain independence and confidence.

Many classroom tasks, from washing hands to reaching for materials on shelves, require access to places just out of a child's reach. A sturdy stepping stool provides a safe and secure platform, fostering a sense of accomplishment as children complete tasks on their own. My goal for my TK students is to gain autonomy, build self-esteem and encourage exploration in the classroom.

Secondly, modular seating offers a versatile and engaging solution for group activities, circle time, and collaborative learning. Unlike traditional chairs that are fixed in place, modular components can be easily rearranged to create different configurations. This flexibility allows me to adapt the space to suit various learning activities, whether it's a cozy reading nook or a spacious circle for discussions. Modular seating also promotes collaboration and social interaction as children sit close together, fostering communication and teamwork skills. By investing in stepping stools and modular seating, donors are giving the gift of a well-equipped learning environment that empowers the young minds of my TK students and fosters a love for exploration and discovery.
