My Students
We are a STEM-based charter school with 74% free or reduced-price lunches. Recently, we also became a Blue Zone School, which focuses on movement and making healthy choices. The families we serve really want what is best for their kids and trust me as their teacher to help make those decisions. The students in my classroom are struggling readers and may not have the resources at home that I can help provide in the classroom. I encourage the students to express themselves in their work and apply it to real-life situations. I use cooperative learning strategies and encourage freedom of movement.
My Project
My students work at a center table that is low to the ground. Since it is on the floor, the tile is both cold and not very comfortable.
I think a comfortable rug would be a great addition to my classroom.
This way, the students will be sitting comfortably and be able to focus more on the centers they are working on. This focus will help them to improve their reading skills that we are working on at the center table. This rug will also give students that prefer to sit on the ground a comfortable place to sit as well. I appreciate your help and support.
