This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are four years old. For many, this is their first time in school. They are primarily English Language Learners. They are excited and love learning.
Young children learn best through hands-on activities and play.
My students learn letters, numbers, colors, and thematic topics by working together and having fun. Our school just opened and due to budgetary issues lacks many materials necessary in order to run rich classroom environments. Often we are limited due to lack of resources.
My Project
Due to the recent coronavirus pandemic, all carpets have been removed from our classrooms in order to keep everyone safe. However, this leaves the children with no comfortable place to sit during group meetings or storytime. Children love to sit on the floor or in cozy spots, but the floor is cold and uncomfortable to sit on especially in the winter months.
I would like to give each of my children a cozy seat spot so that they have a nice cushion to sit on in class.
The children will be able to put their seat spot in their cubbies when they are not using them so and can move them around to the different centers as they play. Another great thing about these seat spots is that they can be easily cleaned. This would really make the children's classroom time much more comfortable.
