Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

In my school, students are respected as people with talents and strengths. These kids often come from less than ideal situations but show up everyday ready to learn.

My students are bright, creative people who need to feel safe and comfortable in their learning environment.

Many have economic and language barriers that flow over into the classroom. They are very driven to improve and make giant leaps in understanding and ability throughout the year but often need the additional support of teachers and materials.

My Project

My students need options for flexible seating like pillows, wobble chairs, cushions, and camp chairs to allow them to focus on learning. School chairs work for some students but for many, they are uncomfortable and make it hard to attend to improving reading, writing, and math skills. With options, students can learn to self-monitor their behavior and learning .

In addition, bookshelves and storage units will create a more welcoming environment in our classroom.

Students need places to store reading and writing materials. At this time, we have few shelving options. With more choices, students will have access to more materials at their fingertips to assist in their advancement in all academic areas.
