My students need flexible seating like wobble chairs, balance balls and flexible chairs to help with their wiggles throughout the day. Having alternative places to sit throughout the day helps them stay focused.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are an energetic, culturally diverse, happy, fun group of students who love learning. We are in in a rural neighborhood. Approximately 80% of our students receive free or reduced price lunch. They experience many challenges in and out of the classroom. They come from many diverse and academically under-served backgrounds. I try to provide meaningful, challenging, flexible, fun experiences for learning. When the learning environment is safe and fun, it allows for them to be more relaxed and push themselves beyond what they thought they were capable of.
My students have incredible minds and are amazing thinkers, readers and writers.
The majority of my students speak English as their second language. Most of our families work two or more jobs making homework assistance a challenge. Providing a comfortable, flexible working environment makes instruction time so important. If students are comfortable they are more likely to stay on task and complete their work in a timely manner.
My Project
I have noticed that many of my students throughout the day would push away their chairs and stand leaning on the edge of their desks, or they were asking to sit at the back table or go to the carpet. Learning doesn't always need to take place from a regular chair and desk.
When students are given some choice about where they can sit and they don't have that restrictive feeling of having to sit in a hard plastic chair, they tend to be more focused and on task.
Providing some alternative, flexible seats for my students will make it so they can wobble back and forth without breaking the feet off the chairs or falling over by using the Red, Blue or Green Wobble Chairs and the Flex Space-Comfy Floor Seats with reclining backs. They can also build some core strength while sitting on a Green or Blu Flex Space 22" Balance Ball while they complete their work in math, reading, writing, social studies science and other class activities.
