My Students
Our school is nestled in the community of Greenpoint, Brooklyn. My students come together to learn each day, many speaking English as their second language, from origins all over the globe! They are creative, enthusiastic, and inquisitive learners! I strive to encourage their curiosity with hands-on, project-based study and educational and creative play.
We work hard to foster an environment of respect and collaboration.
Our classroom includes a wide-variety of learning levels and styles, and those differences are acknowledged and celebrated. Each child is valued, not only as an important member of our first-grade team, but as an individual.
My Project
By donating to this project, you will help to fund the purchase of new mats for our first-grade classroom.
These mats will serve two purposes:
1.They will be a reading space option for our young readers. Because of COVID safety-precautions, currently all of our students sit at their desks, six-feet away from their classmates during their independent reading time. Imagine how excited our first-graders will be if they learn that they now have their own square of space to literally curl up in with a good book!
2. They will serve as mindfulness mats. We are beginning a new mindfulness project throughout our school building. Students are encouraged to get comfortable during their practice. These mats will, once again, offer a comfy option to students' desk and chairs.
