Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
We are a Title I school located in South Central Los Angeles. My students are excited to learn and come to school with such wonder and awe about the new things they will learn.
My students come from low-income families.
Many of my parents do not speak English and struggle to help their children academically. One hundred percent of the students at our school receive free or reduced-price meals. I have a wide range of learners including students with special needs. My students are amazing lifelong learners who are excited to come to school every day.
My Project
This classroom rug will give my students a home base throughout the day. They will have assigned spots on the rug that will be entirely their own. We will start our day on the rug with a morning meeting and will come back to the rug to learn throughout the day.
This rug will create a safe space where we can learn and grow together during the school year.
This rug will also provide a safe space for students to discuss their learning with their peers. Lots of wonderful classroom moments will happen on our classroom rug!
