Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

With our reading program in first grade, we do a lot of sitting on the floor. I work in an area where most students are Hispanic, and parents have very little money. This past year, 2004-2005,I had several students who had a very hard time sitting still. Few of my students attended preschool, so they have had just one year of experience in an academic setting. I would like to get a rug that has squares so students can see their boundaries. That would help them to not move around so much, focus and in turn learn more. Currently, I have 20 students in my class who will reap the benefits of this type of organizing tool. This extra tool will help them learn and will make a big difference in their education! I want to make next year even more successful than this year, and this just may be the key!
