Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
We are a small (only 8 teachers) Title I school where 90% of our students receive free or reduced price lunch. My students come from a low socioeconomic neighborhood. Parents have to work long hours to provide for their families. Many of my students stay in the after-school program as a means of babysitting.
My students need a say in how they sit, where they sit, and what they sit in or on.
This empowers students to be proactive in their learning. This motivates them to learn. It promotes creativity and collaboration, all the skills they need for the future.
My Project
Flexible seating has been proven to help students learn better. It allows students to take charge of how they want to learn. It allows students to collaborate with each other which is a very important skill in today's work force. These comfy seats give my students the same opportunities that more affluent students have. I can work with small groups and when not in use put them in the library to promote a love of reading. Allowing students to feel comfortable when learning will develop greater academic achievement. With greater learning it gives my students a fighting chance to a better life.
