My Project

My school is a Title 1 school, so we often face some unique challenges with our students. Despite that, my students love to learn. They are always so happy to be in school, learning and playing with their friends!

My students are noticeably more engaged in their work and less disruptive of their peers when they are given a choice of where to work.

Flexible seating allows students to take charge of their learning and make the choices that work best for them. My classroom has tables with two different sizes. However, there are no tall stools available to sit at the taller tables which would allow students an option in sitting. Making sure students are comfortable is an essential component in motivating them. I have noticed amazing differences in my students when they are given a choice in their seating.

These stools will increase their time on task and focus. They will be able to increase their core strength as well, and who wouldn't like to sit on a bright colorful stool rather than a boring chair? First Grade should be creative and fun, as well as a good learning environment.
