My Students

Have fun, work hard, treat each other respectfully, and be kind. I work with students who exhibit a wide range of characteristics, including but not limited to aggressive behaviors, attention deficit hyperactivity disorders, depression, autism, cognitive impairments, specific learning disabilities, and anxiety or conduct disorders. I serve students in an inclusive classroom, in a pull-out/resource model, and in a self-contained classroom environment depending on the nature of the behavioral characteristics being exhibited.

Although my students exhibit behaviors, they are also kids.

They can be kind, compassionate, empathetic, funny, creative, adventurous, and thoughtful. I enjoy watching them grow, learn, and use strategies we have been working on. I come to work each day excited to see what the day will bring, no day is ever the same! I work with the same students for multiple years in a row and it is very rewarding to see the impact I make in their lives. The past two years we have been working on operation kindness within our classroom and school district! Getting students to think of kindness opportunities in our school and community has been very rewarding, I plan to continue this project!

My Project

The use of whiteboards is almost a daily activity in my classroom, especially in math. Using the workshop model in math, students utilize flexible seating along with whiteboards for guided practice and to record modeled strategies. The whiteboard will allow me to guide from the front of the group and lead them through exactly what they are doing, as well as provide an easy place for them to show and share their work. What becomes a problem is the fact that we do not have a large whiteboard for students to work at or for me to work with them. The Alertseats will increase the variety of options we have in our classroom and provide students with more individualized choice.

By donating to our project, you will not only help to improve and increase student attention and focus, you will ultimately help to increase their academic achievement.

Students will be able to simply focus on the academic material at hand. I would like to try a few different seating options that we haven't tried before and the ball chairs seem to have the best opportunities for core strength building.
