My Students

I have the best students ever! Our school is over 50% free and reduced lunches and over 50% hispanic and are so eager to learn and make a major contribution to society. They have so many goals and aspirations that I can't wait to see what they will become in the future. What our students need is to be treated as equals and to have equity in learning. They are going to accomplish so much and are ready to make their lives better.

My Project

Flexible seating makes it so easy for kids to get comfortable and read. When teaching middle school, I not only teach science, I help with math and reading. I have found that kids love to get sit in different places around the room when studying. The benches are not only seats, they fold out into picnic tables so that the students can collaborate in a fun area.

Bench seating and picnic tables will allow my students to get up and move around the room to find the perfect place to work together.

We teach a different type of student today than when I taught 30 years ago. I'm trying to make my classroom a safe place for students to learn and for them to enjoy coming to class knowing that they can relax and have fun.
