My Students

Our school (and particularly my class) has some pretty wonderful students! I am fortunate to teach 5th grade 12 years running. As education methods change, so do students' ways of learning. My students like to be out of their seats, work on the floor or at tables, and take an active part in their education. They like to discuss ideas and work on critical thinking skills with their neighbors. They are a "hands on" class and really make teaching fun!

My Project

I will soon have tables in my classroom because I want students to have more flexibility in seating arrangements and make collaborating easier for them. We have the typical classroom chairs that are sturdy, but bulky. Students will push in their chairs at their desks, but the legs stick out and they trip over them as they walk around the room to work. Having stools that are lightweight and tuck easily under the tables/desks, will allow more freedom of movement and make the room feel more open. Students can sit or stand without chairs being in the way of their learning!
