This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach at a Title I K-8 span school in which all of our students receive free breakfast, lunch, and an after school meal. Our community consists of hard-working families who believe in the importance of education and support our school by volunteering, attending parent workshops, and donating school supplies as much as possible. My 25 energetic and motivated students come to school every day ready to do their best.
Together, we are working to build a classroom community full of empathy, perseverance, and independence.
As a school, our mission is to instill a love of learning, build character, and give students the necessary skills to pursue their dreams. Our students understand that in order to succeed, you have to put in the work. Awesome Takes Practice!
My Project
My goal is to transform my classroom into an environment where students can choose to sit, stand, or lie down while engaged in learning activities. We transition from independent work, partner work, small group work, and whole class activities all day long. Flexible workspaces are an integral part of learning in the classroom.
The lap desks and wobble cushions I am requesting can be used by students to quickly transition from one type of learning activity to another.
The lap desks will create workspaces for students who prefer to sit on the ground while doing their thinking work. These same lap desks can also be put on top of the desks to create standing workspaces! The wobble cushions will help those students who like a little movement as they solve problems and explore new ideas.
Your donation to this project will help create new workspaces to meet the needs of all students. When students' bodies are comfortable, their brains can focus on the learning!
