My students need items so that our classroom is more organized. I would like the day to run efficiently so that no learning time is wasted. My students need the sit spots for whole group time!
This year, I am looping to first grade which means I am taking all my students from Kindergarten last year and moving with them to first grade. I am so excited to continue the bond I built with these amazing kids and watch them learn and grow for another year. The size of my class varies from year to year, but is typically between 25 and 30 students. My school is a Title I school, and many of my kids need lots of extra love and attention.
I am a third year teacher, and I would like to build up the number of materials in my classroom so that my classroom is more organized and there is less wasted learning time for my students.
My Project
If this project is funded, my students will be given opportunities they would not have otherwise had. The 3-shelf cart will be used so that I'm able to better organize our guided reading supplies so no essential reading time is wasted. I have also selected some books that will help my students with their social-emotional skills and also build our library.
The sit spots will be used so that students have more space during "carpet time" and they are able to focus better on instruction.
First graders need a little more space than a typical classroom carpet would give them. In kindergarten, the carpet was frequently a time where the students would get into squabbles because they were too close together. I am hoping the sit spots would eliminate that issue.
