My Students

I will be the school counselor at a brand new school this year. I worked with some of the students that will be starting at this new school last year. They are creative, interesting and they love a good story!

In order to keep these young students engaged, I incorporate movement.

They might listen to a story on the carpet, stand and dance for a bit, and then work at the tables. Having different areas for them to go in the classroom keeps them engaged and learning.

My Project

I am school counselor at a brand new school in NC. I am very excited to have my own classroom. I am in the specials rotation (art, music, PE) and teach "guidance class." Students learn important skills such as friendship, assertiveness, coping, problem-solving etc. during my class. These skills will help them develop to their fullest potential and become lifelong learners.

My beautiful classroom needs a colorful, fun rug for the younger students to sit on during our lesson.

I selected a "feelings" rug because I know the kids will love it and it can be incorporated into lessons. I can also use the rug as a tool to help individual students who are having difficulty communicating. They can simply stand on the emotion that they are feeling.
