This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Do you love to curl up with a good book? My students need a comfortable place to read in our classroom!

My students are fourth and fifth graders who live in a large city in Texas.

They are all ESL students and are beginner English speakers. My students have recently moved to the United States from all over the world. They are hard workers and doing a wonderful job learning to speak, read, and write in English. I teach language arts, social studies, and math. I am so proud of them!

My Project

I am requesting two high back bean bag chairs. My students and I are wanting to create a reading nook in our classroom. Currently, I have some boxes of teaching materials stored in a corner. We think that would be a PERFECT place for a reading corner. During our language arts block, we have a time dedicated for "readers workshop." Students are given time for independent reading. My students would love to have a comfortable place to sit and read. These bean bag chairs would be a wonderful addition to our classroom. It is important to create a classroom environment that encourages sustained reading.
