My Students

My students are starving COMFORT in our science classroom! They need a comfortable work space that meets their needs. More then half of our students come from low income homes and struggle with urban issues in a semi rural setting. Most of our budget is for science supplies leaving little to room for comfort for our future scientists. My students love science and deserve to learn in comfort. Our standard chairs are not developmentally appropriate for any learner. Sitting still is not ideal for every student in the classroom. Comfortable seating reduces negative behaviors, promotes engagement and helps with alertness. My students are respectful and grateful; they are not greedy and do not expect handouts in the classroom but are very excited by the amazing things the scientific world has to offer them!

My Project

This is a low cost request with HIGH payout for our future scientist and engineers! My students are asked to sit in nearly every class they attend in very uncomfortable chairs. Even 10-15 minutes in these chairs can be enough to turn a young learner off from the classroom experience. By providing my students a balance disk, they are able to sit in a chair or the floor in comfort while improving breathing, focus and attentions.

My students deserve to be physically comfortable to allow their scientific brains to do their work.

Children learn better when they are comfortable and these cushions provide them the respite they need in a long school day.
