This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach third grade at the same elementary school I attended. Teaching where I grew up is so inspirational. My school is a considered a Title I. This means a high percentage of the students come from low-income families. All students receive free breakfast and lunch. I have a high population of Hispanic children. I have 10 girls and 8 boys. 6 of my students are repeating the third grade again.

They all deserve a chance to read and feel comfortable.

My Project

Having a comfortable place in my classroom for students to read comfortably will impact their success. Many students are not motivated to sit and read at their desk. I want to provide a little space in my classroom with comfortable seats. These students will use these materials every day during reading centers. In previous years my students would sit on the tile floor and try very hard to get comfortable. By purchasing 5 chairs I will be able to have a reading center that the students will love. My goal is that the students will not want to stop reading because they are comfortable.
