This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I have the privilege of working in a 2nd-grade classroom. We are one of the most populated schools in the county, with a total of over 1,000 students. We are a classroom of readers! In our class, we learn and gain knowledge through reading, and other creative instruction. I set high exceptions for my students and am always pushing them to new heights. I encourage them to think, problem solve, be kind, and learn from their mistakes. I expect them to work hard, and I will, in turn, work hard for them.
My Project
Flexible seating in our classroom will give students a choice in what kind of learning space works best for them, and help them to work, read, and engage more efficiently.
I hope by implementing a flexible classroom, it will improve my student’s overall happiness and engagement.
I have a total of 25 students this year and we are together seven hours a day, having alternative seating is a must. Most children do not enjoy sitting in a school chair for that amount of time, so options are necessary. With happier students, you have more attentiveness, which in turn increases productivity and learning.
I am also asking for a wireless ringer, this will help with our transitions by cueing the students in various tones. This will enable the students to react quicker by recognize the tone and efficiently transitioning to the next activity, which will give us more learning time.
