Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Asking the teacher for assistance can sometimes feel discouraging and daunting. While I do my best to foster a safe and welcoming environment for my students, taking the first step toward asking for help may feel intimidating.
Being a student in a high school English classroom means taking more agency over your writing and expression.
My goal is to create a warm and inviting teacher-student writing conference space, where students can sit or stand comfortably while discussing their progress in my classroom. The adjustable desk will be placed at my teaching station where I usually work with students. The length of the desk will allow for a place to conference with more room to place the students' materials and progress-tracking materials.
In addition, the high stools will be used for students to use while meeting with me regarding their work. If they choose to stand (or if they're in a small group with me), they are still able to receive the comfort and support they need.
