My students need special, diverse types of seating in order to satisfy some of their physical needs to have movement while maintaining focus in the classroom setting, all while trying to be comfortable.

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My special education class consists of students ranging from preschool to 2nd grade. They are all diverse children that have specific needs and interests, all the while sharing an excitement to come to school everyday and participate in the engaging lessons I have planned for them! My students all come from challenging socio-economic backgrounds, and I would like to be able to provide them with the necessary equipment and support that they need. Our school is an extremely large elementary school with a very supportive Special Education team, who want to provide students with the resources to achieve the best, both academically and socially! Unfortunately our resources are limited and we do not always have the funds to provide all materials.
My Project
All of our students should have the opportunity to come to class and learn without any physical barriers. Some of my students would benefit from having cushions, which would allow them to focus on the material on which they are working, instead of struggling to find a comfortable position on the rug or their chairs. This project would also benefit my very small students, who find it easier to sit on their knees in order to see the entire table, because their legs won’t feel as much impact from the hard school chairs. Other students in my class need the support of wobble chairs, which allow students the satisfaction of getting movement without having to elope or disengage from the lessons. I picked these specific lakeshore chairs also, because they will be easy to clean, which means all of my students can have access to them!
Nearly all students from low‑income households
