My Students

We have a wonderful group of third grade students. Our students live in the Fishtown section of Philadelphia. There are students from a variety of backgrounds, with a variety of needs and skills. The students bring excitement and enthusiasm to the day and everything they do.

Our students love to work in small groups, especially for reading.

They enjoy working together and with the teacher in order to connect reading to a wide range of subjects. We have been developing our classrooms to show a student-centered environment.

My Project

Our school is focused on improving our classroom environment. We are motivated to transform our classroom library areas into warm, inviting areas. This will allow students to increase motivation to read. Students will be able to select books from our classroom library in this area. They will also be able to take time from their traditional desk areas to relax with a good book!

The new cushions, soft chair, and bean bag chairs will provide students with flexible seating while students are engaged in independent and partner reading.

Students would utilize these items daily. A further benefit is that these items can be used for many years to come and have the ability to help many more students.
