This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My wonderful students come from the neighborhood around the school and are a delight to teach. We are a Title I school, and the boys and girls represent a diverse population. I love my position as the school librarian and enjoy seeing the classes once per week. I do a variety of activities with my students and always want to incorporate more. Literacy is our primary focus in the library, and students get so excited to learn new things in different and unique ways.
Flexible seating in the library would give the students more choices while reviewing our literature.
Students like to collaborate and share the books they discover during our literature review time. The addition of more comfortable seating choices would help make this a more fun time during each library visit.
My Project
My students come to the library every week excited to look at our literature collection. I have a variety of books selected each week for each group to review. They are high interest books that the students want to read. The books have differentiated reading levels to meet all the students' needs. The students would love to have some new flexible seating to use while reviewing their literature each week.
New flexible seating would add to the learning environment in the library.
Uncomfortable students are easily distracted and unproductive. Flexible seating encourages students to find the best spot and focus while they read. This is one of the many ways I can get students hooked on reading and become lifelong readers. Please help provide my students with new floor seats for our library.
