Research has shown the powerful impact music can have on learning important concepts, particularly in the early years. The big book set with accompanying CD that I am requesting would provide a strong introduction to and eventually reinforcement of alphabet recognition and letter/sound association. With daily use of the big books and CD, the children will be able to learn these important early literacy concepts in an enjoyable and effective manner. By listening to and reading along with the books, and by singing along with the CD, these skills are entering the brain through several different channels, and are thereby are more likely to become imprinted on the brain. I am a kindergarten teacher in Louisiana, and although I teach all subjects, these materials would be used primarily for literacy instruction. I always try to provide meaningful and enjoyable learning experiences for my students, and I believe the use of the requested materials would provide a means for me to be able to do this. Thank you very much for your consideration.
