This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
The motto at our school is “Supporting Student Strengths with Passion, Purpose, and Professionalism.” This project focuses on fostering students’ strengths by making sure they can access their curriculum during distance learning in a fun and unique way by incorporating materials that can be adapted! Many of the Special Education students I work with come from limited resources and have behavioral, medical, and academic needs. Some of the students live in a group or foster homes, and it can be a challenge to find motivating activities that will engage them.

Help us connect with our students through music! We want to support communication skills through music development.

The cajon drum, hand bells, and xylophone will be new and exciting materials to use for speech therapy lessons. Many of my younger students love music, so being able to incorporate real instruments will make practicing their speech goals more meaningful. Storage of materials will be accomplished through the bookshelf which will keep us organized and ready to go at any moment. Lastly, the Disney songbook and sheet protectors will be a great guide and safe storage as we adapt the numbers to braille, so all our students are able to engage with the instruments and play simple songs that hold so much meaning.
