The new doctors cart has inspired my students to expand their play by dressing in the doctors coats. Then roll the doctors cart outside and with the help of my support team they take temps, give shots and review x-rays. When the cart is on the visual schedule my students put away their puzzles more quickly so we can transition outside to play.\r\n The new bubble machine is a godsend. We used to take turns with the traditional bubble and wand set up to provide bubbles at recess for my students to track. Now our bubble machine is automatic. So we get to play with the students at the various centers while bubbles fly overhead. They love it!\r\n We used to use the goggles only at centers, where only two students can participate at one time. Now I can demonstrate science cause and effect activities for a large group of students because they can all get a pair of goggles to wear.\r\n My biggest thrill is watching my students engage in STEM activities. This was our fourth time raising butterflies. My students now access prior knowledge during the life cycle activities and need less support from my classroom staff. Developing engagement leads to more independent skills. It was something new and not the same repetitive items. Some students were learning how to complete a puzzle, while others loved a new challenge. It was also great because we had so many old puzzles from the 70's/80's.\r\n Many of the students are non verbal. With the puzzles I was able to assess if the students are able to identify letters, shapes, numbers and animals(nouns). While I am assessing the students they are enjoying the puzzle. The puzzles mean so much to us.
