My Students

Music class is a place where students can feel safe in exploring ways to express themselves through instruments and singing. My elementary school is located in Woodinville, WA and serves 720 students from grades K-5. This year alone our district admitted 700 new students, and our community continues to grow. We have 2 music rooms, but only equipped for one full music classroom. Our students and teachers are always gracious in rotating/sharing instruments.

My students love to play instruments, and enjoy being able to be creative in music.

Some students who struggle in academics, find music class as a place where they can succeed.

My Project

My students are passionate singers and musicians. Ukuleles are the perfect instrument for elementary students to experiment. The size of the instrument is ideal for small hands, and it’s an easier instrument to use while singing. We have a few ukuleles that we use for centers, and all my students are eager to play it. Students will be able to check them out to practice at home without it being too big to take on the bus. These instruments also gives us opportunities for students to perform for concerts and talent shows, which goes along with National and State standards.
