My Students
Our school is located in a rural town in the heart of west central Minnesota. Our school district serves approximately ten small communities in the area. My students are wonderful kids. They are curious, creative, and active learners who enjoy activities that keep them engaged!
We are lucky to have music class every day where we can be found learning about and making music. Each grade level puts on two performances each year for families, friends, and community members. They enjoy the opportunity to perform and share their music with others!
My Project
This project will help build my music library with sing-along storybooks for my students to enjoy. Storybooks are nice to have to accompany our singing as it provides visuals for my students. Since I teach Kindergarten-2nd grade students, having visuals helps them in learning words to songs. Pictures also help to teach new vocabulary words.
I believe it is important to teach students to sing popular folk and children's songs. Not all students are exposed to learning songs like this at home. Through this project, I can help build my students' repertoire of popular children's songs. I hope to continue to build my students' love for singing with these fun sing-along storybooks!
