Since Time Immemorial - Salmon Edition

Help me give my students age-appropriate book resources to understand the importance of salmon to Native Americans in their community, and in their community's history.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are amazing! All of them are bilingual or are learning to be. Some of them have three languages. These kiddos are the future adults I want to be caring for the world. My students come from all over to attend our dual language Spanish/English school and their families are diverse in culture.

My students are curious about the world around them and so eager to learn.

They are a dynamic, interesting, and interested group of young people who love to learn about life.

My Project

My state has a great curriculum available to help non-Native teachers teach about the history and current events of the many Native American tribes in our area. This curriculum lists a number of excellent book-based resources with beautiful illustrations, by Native authors. Unfortunately, none of these books are currently available to me either through my local library system or through my school's library!

Teaching the Since Time Immemorial curriculum is incredibly important and requires access to high-quality resources.

Please help me do a good job teaching my students about their Native American neighbors through learning about the historical importance of salmon. With these book resources, I can be more confident that I will not make an error that misinforms my students, and I can be more assured that I will avoid accidentally doing or saying something that would harm my friends and neighbors.
