My Project

I teach government and economics to a diverse group of high school seniors in a Title One school. My students are thoughtful, opinionated, and eager to understand how real-world problems like climate change, connect to the policies and economic systems they study. But too often, they encounter these big ideas only in textbooks or abstract terms. I want to change that by bringing the green economy into our classroom through simulations, debates, and collaborative projects.

With your support, we’ll explore how governments and businesses make choices that affect the environment and our future.

Students will simulate environmental legislation, such as carbon taxes or cap-and-trade policies, analyze economic concepts like externalities and opportunity costs in climate-related contexts. They will debate the role of public vs. private action in solving environmental problems and work in teams to research, design, and present solutions to real-world environmental challenges, such as green infrastructure, clean energy, or sustainable business ideas
