These simple tools made a huge difference in our ability to collaborate and stay engaged during class. With the chargers, students no longer have to scramble to keep their laptops alive during research activities or discussions, and the creative materials have made it easier for them to visually express their understanding of government and economics concepts.\r\n\r\nOne of my favorite moments came during a recent civic engagement project, when students worked in small groups to design posters encouraging voter participation. Thanks to the new markers and paper, their finished work looked vibrant and professional—something they were proud to hang around campus. The availability of chargers also kept everyone on task as they researched and drafted their messages online before bringing them to life on paper.\r\n\r\nNext, my students will use these resources in our upcoming economics unit, where they'll create visual infographics explaining key concepts like supply and demand and opportunity cost. These materials have truly \"charged up\" both their learning and their creativity, and I'm so grateful to the donors who made it possible for my students to have what they need to think critically and participate fully every day.","fullyFundedDate":1758045498437,"projectUrl":"project/charged-up-for-civic-engagement-and-econ/9716276/","projectTitle":"Charged Up for Civic Engagement and Economic Thinking","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Zertuche","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-9_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/2526156"},{"teacherId":6911162,"projectId":8463975,"letterContent":"Thank you for your continued support of my students and classroom. Your generosity has provided us with essential tools—laptop chargers, a standing desk, laptop desk risers, metallic markers, and a soothing lamp—that are already making a meaningful difference in our classroom. The new workspace setup has given students more flexibility in how they engage with their work, whether standing to collaborate, adjusting their screens for better ergonomics, or simply recharging their devices to stay productive throughout the day. The metallic markers have added a creative touch to our reflections and mindfulness activities, and the soft glow of the soothing lamp has helped create a calmer environment, especially during our stress-reducing journaling sessions.\r\n\r\nThe excitement in the room was immediate when students saw the new materials. One student, balancing their laptop on a stack of books before, eagerly set up a riser and said, \"This feels so much better!\" Another student who often forgets to charge their laptop at home was relieved to have chargers readily available, eliminating unnecessary stress. Looking ahead, we are using these tools to support our students as they approach the end of the semester and graduation from high school. Thanks to you, our classroom is not just a place of learning but also one that prioritizes student mental health.
