My Project

This year, our school is cranking up the volume on early learning, and we need your help to tune up our listening centers through DonorsChoose!

In our 3K and Pre-K classrooms, listening centers are more than just a quiet corner.

They're a launchpad for literacy and emotional growth.

When our littlest learners listen to stories while turning real pages, they're building crucial early skills like:

Listening comprehension – Understanding spoken words before they’re ready to read them.

Print awareness – Learning that pages turn from left to right, and that those funny little marks on the page actually means something.

Focus & independence – Students build attention spans and learn how to navigate a learning task independently.

Emotional connection – Music and storytelling help children identify feelings, manage big emotions, and develop empathy.

Respect & responsibility – Using shared materials like headphones, book sets, and audio players teaches students how to care for classroom tools and work cooperatively.

Plus, let’s be honest…there’s just something magical about hearing a story come to life in your ears while you turn the pages with your own two hands. We want every student in our early childhood classrooms to have that experience. But to do that, we need a little help from our favorite grown-ups (that’s you!).
