My Students

My students are aspiring artists, but need the materials to support their growing passion.

Our school is the largest elementary school in our district, and serves over 700 students in a rural location.

We are a Title One school, which means the majority of our students live near or at the poverty line. Our student body is very diverse and is comprised of smart, creative, caring, inspiring, and energetic students. They love to put their art smarts to work to create stunning works of art!

My Project

Students will use the materials to create and complete art projects for the 2015-2016 school year. In the upcoming months each grade will use the sharpies and construction paper to create self-portraits, South Carolina wildlife drawings, and a unit on shapes. Students will learn how to identify geometric and organic shapes, how to draw self portraits, and how shapes are used to create images. The ability to identify and use shapes in artwork is fundamental to creating art, understanding proportion, and breaking down visual information that one encounters on a daily basis.

By donating to this project, you are giving hundreds of students the materials needed to complete hands-on activities.

We spend a lot of time in our art room discussing artists and cultures, but the studio portion of class gives every student the opportunity to problem solve and put their knowledge into practice.
