Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Simplicity can help create a well run classroom. When my class has ample paper, dry-erase markers, tape to hang name cards and name plates, and laminating pouches, I can create center materials and switch up activities to provide fun and engaging activities for the students. When I have rubber gloves and baby wipes I can help make our Children's Health Assistants job easier when they are changing children's diapers for the students who are not fully toilet trained. When we have paint sticks, playdough and magnetic bingo chips we can have sensory integration activities that most children need to help engage with the world around them. Last, but far from least are beanbag chairs!
Basic supplies keep my classroom running smoothly, allowing me to maintain my focus on the children!
The materials requested in this project may initially look as if there is no razzamatazz to them, but it is where the magic begins. When children have a dry diaper they can focus on the work that needs to be done. Paint sticks are an amazing invention that allows us to paint more frequently and they dry quickly while maintaining true strong colors! Paper is the main ingredient to most kindergarten projects. Beanbag chairs are an essential part of our independent reading time. The children can choose any place in the room to sit. They sometimes share a beanbag as they nestle together to share a book with one another. It is a beautiful time in our day, that is filled with a soft chatter of children reading books either by themselves or with a partner. Playdough is another favorite activity that helps the children strengthen their hand muscles while providing another opportunity to have extensive conversations with friends about their creations.
