This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My school is a high school serving students in grades 9-12. We are in an urban neighborhood. Many of our students immigrated from another country or are the children of immigrants. Many of my students will be the first in their families to graduate from high school.

My students are college-bound, highly motivated, hardworking and dream of success.

They are awesome! Most are from lower socioeconomic status but have the endurance to make it to 12th grade and most aim to go to college and get a degree. They dream of becoming everything from doctors to teachers to lawyers and entrepreneurs.

My Project

My school library is currently in a temporary bungalow. Students currently have no drop box to return their books. That means if the teacher librarian (ME) isn't in the library, then books don't get returned on time, or at all.

A Library Drop Box will help students be responsible citizens, and return their books on time.

If the library is inconvenient, then students will not utilize it. This simple way for students to be able to return books is an absolute necessity and will help create a positive atmosphere for improving literacy.
