This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I have a wonderful groups of 4th graders! They are eager and motivated to learn! My goal is to create a safe and comfortable learning environment for my students to give the best that they possibly can, everyday!

As a teacher, I try to always keep the compassion alive in me, especially for my students.

We see these children every day and sometimes don't know their struggles, their worries (tests can be a lot of pressure!) and there is no better way to connect with your students than understanding them. Doing so, I am learning on a daily basis that they need things that I cannot provide on my own. That is where generous donors from DonorsChoose.org come in--they (you) make this a reality for them. Thank you for visiting our classroom in the best way possible!

My Project

As the years pass, it becomes more and more important for kids to learn about math and understand how it affects their "real world." I want to help my students engage even more in small groups and use what they learn to relate it to their own life. I am requesting resources such as colorful cardstock and sheet protectors to make durable stations where kids can use freely. Magnetic clips help them display their work for their classmates to see! Lastly, whiteboard erasers support our plan to save money by using reusable resources whenever possible! Ultimately, these resources will help make small group learning fun! Every math problem can be an opportunity to learn about the real world and finances, for example.

Whether it's about their allowances or birthday money, my fourth graders can take what they learned in math to go home and figure out if they have enough money for that infamous video game.

They like to call this, "learning math for a purpose."
