Silly Girls, These Books are for Boys!

Help me give my students ,especially the boys, chapter books that will motivate them to read more including Percy Jackson and The Trapped in a Video Game series.

My Project

The highlight of my day is when my fourth and fifth grade boys come to the library to check out books. I usually see two types of boys that enter the library to browse for books. The first type rushes in and heads to the most popular section. They are mostly looking for the popular series like Dogman or Captain Underpants. The other type of boy enters the library reluctantly and clearly not excited to be there. "Do you have any new books that I might like to read?" I am asked that question many times a week by boys who were sent by their teacher to check out a book whether they want to or not.

Most boys lose interest in Reading when they reach fourth and fifth grade because video games, phones, and other digital equipment get their undivided attention.

I am determined to change the mindset that my boys have toward books. This is the reason why I am asking for books like Percy Jackson, Trapped in a Video Game and the Youtubers chapter books. These new engaging books will provide these boys more book choices to read. The goal is to create a love for Reading that keeps them coming back for more books.
