This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Many of my students at school come in with big emotions and anxiety around stressful events in their lives. One of the outlets we have for our kids is our elective block, nicknamed "Joy Block." My elective is focused on kids following their passions and exploring possible paths to entrepreneurship, helping them relax, find belonging in our school and explore possible career paths for their futures.

These supplies will promote good mental health by helping students channel anxious energy into an art project, ultimately aimed at helping students explore a clothing design business.

Access to professional silkscreen supplies like a printing screen, UV printing light, tote bags, and ink will allow kids to create unique designs and print them on to clothing and tote bags. This will promote a sense of pride around a product created while de-stressing from the day.

These supplies will be specifically used to create tote bags with student designs on them in my elective block. This project will be a therapeutic outlet for students who experience a lot of stress in their day-to-day lives.
