My Students

A typical day in my classroom is full of action! We are a fast moving and curious class! My students always have questions and always want to know more! I want to give them as many opportunities as possible to support and increase their intrinsic motivation!

We are a classroom of nineteen 2nd grade students!

We have had the good fortune to spend 1st grade and now 2nd grade together. We have grown a lot and because we have looped up together, we are all familiar with each others personalities. Our comfortable, family-like classroom environment helps us learn even more! Our family environment also extends outside of our classroom. Our school atmosphere is very warm and inviting. Our atmosphere allows us to provide more opportunities including the sharing of resources! These science kits will benefit students in 1st through 6th grade!

My Project

Our school follows the Project Based Learning Model. In this model, students are grouped and presented a challenge. Students decide the problem they would like to solve and use 21st century skills to research information regarding the problem. Students voice their opinions, ideas and collaborate to create a solution. Students receive feedback from their teacher and take time to reflect and make revisions. At the end of the project, students will give a presentation to the class, school and even the community! In order to do this effectively, students need engaging subject material. We would love to have science learning labs to increase our understanding of specific topics. These labs will be utilized by teachers in multiple grade levels!

Having science learning labs at our school will increase student interest and engagement in projects.

The learning labs will allow students to access tubs of information, think of project ideas and use hands-on tools to learn!
