This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Sight words are the most frequently occurring words in the English language. These are words like "the" and "and." Knowing these words like the back of one's hand will increase comprehension and fluency. Dual language students--which is exemplified in my class roster--depend on these words in order to get their points across.

Knowing these sight words words will increase writing, reading, and math skills as students are able to comprehend their readings and fluently express their ideas and understandings.

As students comprehend these sight words, they will feel more confident in their abilities and their skills.

Through this project, I aim to provide multiple opportunities for students to practice these sight words. Multiple opportunities for practice is what allows students to truly absorb and apply information.

For example, the sight words packs specifically will be used to construct an individual sight word practice ring for each student, which will be reviewed everyday: every morning while waiting for first period to start, early finishers, center rotations, homework, etc.
