Sight Words and Wipe Boards, Oh, My!

Help me give my students write wipe boards and sight word rings to practice their letters, words, and sentences while at home. They have used these boards while in school and are a fan-favorite!

My Students

I teach Special Education in a large, urban school. Our student population hails from countries all over the world. Many of our families are low income and live below the poverty line. All students in our building receive free breakfast and lunch everyday.

My students work hard to overcome the challenges in their lives.

Despite numerous financial and academic challenges, my students are all loving, caring people who are determined to grow and learn!

My Project

During remote learning, my students will be able use their own wipe boards at home for literacy lessons as well as math lessons. It will be important for my students to practice what I have taught them on their own to help them with muscle memory with their letters, words, and numbers. They have used these boards in school and always feel so special using the markers and erasers just like their teacher does. My students can also use their new sight word rings of vocabulary in hand and then practice those words on the wipe boards to ensure they can use the visual and tactile modalities to help memorize the sight words.
