Help me give my students sight word and word family activities to learn to read.
FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Rappa's classroom raised $399
This project is fully funded
My Students
My students come from low income families where parents have recently gone back to work and have switched their child from remote learning to in person learning. These are kindergarteners in a general education class who learn alongside students with special needs. They were in pre-school last year for only six months until COVID hit. They are learning school and classroom routines all over again after being home for an entire year. They had a tough time learning remotely. It has been a very tough year for everyone.
My Project
Since the students have been mostly remote since September, they have not been getting the hands-on practice to learn sight words and word families. This has hindered their reading skills and they have fallen further behind. Now that they have switched to in person, these activities will promote reading for our precious students, especially those who are tactile learners. These activities will give them the hands-on, center time activities to learn and practice in a fun way. Students will be excited to be using these new activities. Students will also be making thank you cards for their family members, thanking them for all they did mand helping them learn during remote schooling.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
